TRACES OF COMMERCE | BRIEF
Traces of commerce is an initiative for the activation of the Gallery of Merchants and its empty shops, a space in the center of Athens that during the last years remains inactive. The goal of this initiative is the formation of these spaces according to the contemporary needs of the area and its users in order to be connected again with the viable urban network of the city.
LOGOTYPE
The empty shops of the Gallery of Merchants served as the main inspiration for the form the logo should have. The extracted rhombus from the pattern the roller shutters create, became the main aspect of the branding.
Moreover, the design of the logo pays homage to the tradition of early branding works which supported the commerce of Greek agricultural products and the outburst of shops and family-run factories of the post-war era. An aesthetic, ubiquitious among the abodonded spaces of the Gallery of merchants.
COLOR PALETTE
The selected colors tried to resemble old elements of commerce such as stamps, invoice books and receipts, signs and posters.

WEBSITE DESIGN
The elements of the branding were integrated into the grid supporting the respective content. Photographs from the current state of the gallery, reflecting a vibrant past, were used as big background images in order to capture the atmosphere within the digital context.
For the animation, jQuery & skrollr parallax scrolling library was used.
